Animal Chiropractic
Animals benefit greatly from chiropractic care. From young pups to older seniors, an adjustment can provide relief of strain on joints to allow for pain alleviation, better mobility, and happier demeanor. Dr. Emily has been certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association in animal chiropractic. Dr. Emily will work in cooperation with your vet to ensure that your animal receives the best care possible. Unlike people, animals are not able to verbalize how they feel, but there are signs to look for which may indicate that your animal could benefit from chiropractic care: limping, disc problems, joint mobility restrictions, unable to chew food or treats, muscle spasms, spine injuries from falling or accidents, event or sport injuries and “Puppy sitting”
Most animals in the office utilize Dr. Emily’s services for maintenance care and focus on health and wellness to help prevent injuries. Just like a human, when their bodies are properly aligned, they are able to not only move through their environment optimally, but they also are able to better withstand a stressor they may encounter whether it be chemical, emotional or physical and respond appropriately. We love owners who are attuned to their animals and know when their loved one isn’t functionally optimally so they can be brought in for a “tune-up” rather than waiting to address an issue and then requiring a care plan to properly address the complaint.
In order to make an appointment for animal chiropractic services, per state law, we must first have a referral form completed by both yourself and your veterinarian. This ensures that your veterinarian does not see any reason as to why your animal should not receive chiropractic services. There may be an underlying issue, that is not visible without testing or imaging, that would prevent an animal from being a candidate for care and we want to ensure that your animal is given excellent care that is not only effective but also safe.
Dogs and cats are seen in the office (in a separate room from our human room) and sometimes chickens and rabbits in patient’s cars. 🙂 Horses, cattle, camelids, goats, and sheep are seen on farm calls and pricing varies depending on your radius from the office and how many animals are being seen at a time.
Animal Chiropractic Adjustments

The bones of the spine and joints are maintained in a specific alignment. The nerves which surround each joint and vertebral articulation are in constant communication with the central nervous system, brain and all organs. When even a subtle change in the alignment occurs, it is called a subluxation. Subluxations affect the nervous system, local muscles, joints and even distant organs, glands and body functions.
Many animals will show immediate improvement. Sometimes there is a 24-48 hour period of tiredness. Some animals require a few sessions to resolve acute pain. Often, with chronic health problems, the doctor will want to see your animal several times to maintain and re-establish normal function of the joints and nervous system. Contact Dr. Emily directly today to have your animal loved one evaluated for chiropractic care!
Most animals accept both the exam and adjustment without signs of pain. When a painful area is found, the gentlest techniques are used to reduce pain before delivering an adjustment. In cases of acute or extreme pain, a decision may be made to delay the complete adjustment until your companion can be relaxed.
